This is a picture that I converted from color to black and white. My main goal in the conversion was to preserve the details in the picture. I accomplished this by adjusting the levels and curves to heighten the contrast. This is a picture I took of garbage on the street in Barcelona.

The tonal range is really wonderful in this image. The way the faces on the magazines are distorted almost gives this Picasso feel. I imagine there are other body parts mixed up in there somewhere too.
