Here is a photo of my grandfather and I wayyyy back when on his horse at his house in Tehachapi. It is one of my favorite photos, and I haven't completed all of the clean up I would like to do with this photo, but I think for now it looks good :)
I did some global color changes to the color image before desaturating, and I also did a slight S curve before desaturating, and it gave it a wider tonal range as a grayscale photo.

You may want to get some more detail on the side of the horse and your gradpa's leg, on the blogg it looks a bit dark.
